China’s Fuxin Xinyida Agriculture & Industry Trade Company to Establish Leather and Wool Processing Units in Tajikistan's Khatlon Region

In a significant development for regional cooperation and economic growth, China’s Fuxin Xinyida Agriculture & Industry Trade Company has expressed keen interest in establishing leather and wool processing units, along with greenhouses, in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan. This intent was communicated by the company’s chief, Gao Jong Tao, during a recent meeting with the region's administrative head, Davlatali Said.

According to the press center of the Khatlon governor’s office, the initiative is contingent on the resolution of land allocation issues. If these issues are resolved promptly, construction work and the delivery of necessary equipment are slated to commence in June. This development underscores the strategic importance Khatlon places on enhancing regional cooperation to boost economic and trade advancement, attract investment, and implement modern technologies.

"The Khatlon region views the development of regional cooperation as a vital element in economic and trade advancement, investment attraction, and the implementation of modern technologies," said Said, as reported by domestic media in Tajikistan.

Khatlon's agricultural output last year included 1.140 million pieces of cattle and small livestock leather and 5,970 tonnes of wool, highlighting the region's potential in these industries. The proposed processing units are expected to significantly enhance the value-added processing of these raw materials, fostering local employment and contributing to the region’s economic development.

The collaboration between Fuxin Xinyida and Khatlon is anticipated to be a catalyst for further bilateral trade and investment between China and Tajikistan, showcasing the potential for mutually beneficial projects in the agricultural and industrial sectors.
